On October 25th, the 33rd World Hakka Conference Ancestral Worship Activity is held at the World Hakka Ancestral Root Memorial Park in Yanshi District of Luoyang.

Representatives of Hakka clans from both at home and abroad gathered at the “ancestral root of Hakka” in Luoyang, where the ancestral worship activity is solemnly held under the Central Plains Monument Commemorating the southward migration of Hakka ancestors, to jointly worship their Hakka ancestors and feel the deep emotions of blood ties.

The World Hakka Root Memorial Park is solemn. Guests attending the ancestral worship activity gathers at the Central Plains Monument Commemorating the southward migration of Hakka ancestors, seeking their roots and paying homage to their hometown. The ancestral worship ceremony consists of seven rituals: the salute of trumpets, the offering of flower baskets, the burning of incense and libations, the reading of the prayer, the bowing of respect, the Hakka hymn, and the presentation of the ancestral soil. With deep emotions of blood ties to their homeland, everyone prays for the prosperity and harmony of their motherland.

Luoyang is an important birthplace of Chinese civilization and the ancestral homeland of over 100 million Hakka people worldwide. Over 1,700 years ago, Hakka ancestors set out on their first southward migration from Luoyang. In August 2007, the International Academic Symposium on “The Departure Place of the First Migration of Hakka Ancestors” was held in Yanshi, where experts all agreed that Yanshi was the departure place, commemorative site, and the holiest place of the initial mass migration of the main Hakka ancestors.
