Recently, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the State Council announced the list of the sixth batch of national-level representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, among which two people from Jiajiang County are included.

Jiajiang New Year pictures are a unique form of folk art in Jiajiang County, Sichuan Province. According to records, Jiajiang New Year pictures, together with Mianzhu New Year pictures and Liangping New Year pictures, are known as one of the three major New Year pictures in Sichuan. Jiajiang New Year pictures have rich themes, mainly including images of gods, door gods, landscapes, flowers and birds, theatrical stories, myths and legends, etc. There are also works that reflect folk life and criticize social malpractices. Jiajiang New Year pictures are printed with woodblock color separation, featuring bright colors and exquisite craftsmanship. On June 7, 2008, woodblock New Year pictures (Jiajiang New Year pictures) were approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China and included in the second batch of the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Jiajiang bamboo paper is made from tender bamboo as the raw material through the manual paper scooping technique. There are 15 links and 72 processes from material selection to paper making. The production process is in line with the procedures described in "Tian Gong Kai Wu" (Exploitation of the Works of Nature) in the Ming Dynasty. The "Chronicle of the Stele of Cai Weng" in Daoguang years of the Qing Dynasty in Jiajiang County summarizes it as the twenty-four characters: "Cut the bamboo, remove the green part, soak it in lime, boil it with fire, wash it with water, pound it with a mortar, scoop it with a screen, and brush it on the wall".
